Build and Belong ("we", "us", "our") is a community for small business owners in West Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, founded by Melissa Groves and Elliott Gaspar. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly.

What data we collect

When you sign up as a member through our website, we collect the following information:

Name (first name and last name), business name, email address, phone number, and postcode.

We do not collect any sensitive personal data such as health information, financial details, or government identification numbers.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

Send you your WhatsApp community invite when you join. Notify you about upcoming Build and Belong events. Contact you with occasional community updates. Understand the geographic spread of our membership across West Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds.

How we store your data

Your data is stored securely in a database hosted by Supabase (supabase.com), a cloud database provider with servers in the EU. Access to this data is restricted to the Build and Belong administrators (Melissa and Elliott) and is protected by encrypted connections and authentication.

Automated emails

When you sign up, we send you one automated welcome email containing your WhatsApp community invite link. This email is sent through Resend (resend.com), a transactional email service. We do not add you to any marketing mailing list, and we do not send unsolicited promotional emails.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is only processed by the technical services that run our website (Netlify for hosting, Supabase for database storage, and Resend for sending the welcome email). These services act as data processors on our behalf.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you. Correct any inaccurate information. Delete your data (the "right to be forgotten"). Withdraw consent at any time. Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
